Councillor Dave Callaghan was appointed Chair of the Sub-Committee for the appointments to two Executive Head Posts in Children, Young People and Learning Services Directorate.

To exclude press and public from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972

Resolved:  That, in accordance with Section 100(A) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information, as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, which would not be in the public interest.

To consider the job description and person specification for the post of Executive Head of Education and Early Intervention.

Members of the Sub-Committee considered the proposed arrangements for the appointment of an Executive Head of Education and Early Intervention and an Executive Head of Safeguarding in the Children, Education and Learning Services Directorate.

It was noted that advertising space had been booked with the Municipal Journal for publication on Thursday 26 July 2012. There would also be a micro web site to support the recruitment campaign.  The proposed job description, person specification, salary and timetable for both appointments were before the Sub-Committee.

A stakeholder event would be organised as part of the recruitment process.

            Resolved:  (i) That the proposed job description/person specification and salary for the posts of Executive Head of Education and Early Intervention and an Executive Head of Safeguarding, as amended, be approved;

            (ii) That the post of Executive Head of Education and Early Intervention be renamed Executive Head of Education, Learning and Intervention

            (iii)  That, subject to all members of the Sub-Committee being available, the proposed timetable for the appointments be as follows and other dates adjusted accordingly:

            Long Listing              27 September 2012

            Short Listing             29 October 2012

            Final Interviews        12 and 13 October 2012

The Sub-Committee noted the arrangements for the forthcoming appointment for the Director of Public Health. The advertising process would be undertaken by the NHS   However, members of the appointments sub-committee would take a full role in the selection process.  They needed to be appointed to serve of the selection panel. It was noted that the final interviews would be held on Wednesday 3 October 2012
